Makadirealisasikanlah berdirinya Yayasan Pendidikan Sunan Giri Malang (YASPURI) tahun 1979 yang kelak menaungi lembaga pendidikan tinggi yang bernama Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Hukum Sunan Giri atau kini dikenal STIH Malang. STIH angkatan pertama yang hanya memiliki 30 mahasiswa, dalam waktu lima tahun (1984) berkembang menjadi 500an MALANGTIMES- Kepemimpinan Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Hukum (STIH) Sunan Giri Malang, terpecah menjadi dua kubu.Hal ini tentunya berdampak pada keberlangsungan proses pembelajaran dan kelulusan mahasiswa yang sudah ada.
